NIKA-TERA sea port expanded its own fleet of locomotives
“The specialised sea port NIKA TERA, a member of Group DF, increased its railway fleet with yet another new ЧМЭ-3 locomotive, bringing the total number of its own locomotives to 10 engines.
The new locomotive was procured within the frameworks of a large-scale program launched 3 years ago and intended to increase the sea port’s capacity.
The locomotive itself was improved to carry out clean-up, shunting and mainline duties.
ČKD ČME3 is a six axle road-switcher diesel-electric locomotive with electric transmission. The locomotive is equipped with modern control systems that guarantee comfortable and safe working conditions for drivers.
As a part of the program to increase the capacity of the NIKA-TERA sea port, a total of 23 kilometers of railways, 14 centralized and 25 manual track switches were built and put into operation.
The sea port has 5 special railway track scales for unloading the rolling stock. To optimize logistics operations, it is planned to build additional railway track scales. NIKA-TERA sea port is capable of handling about 720 railway cars per day. The sea port also has its own locomotive depot for the maintenance and repairs of locomotive engines.
Previously, a modern laboratory was set up as part of the program to increase the sea port’s capacity. The new railway track scales operated by the sea port consists of two technological lines, each having the maximum capacity of up to 1800 m3 per hour. In addition, the technical fleet of the sea port includes 4 loading machines with the capacity of up to 1500 tons per hour. The sea port operates 8 berths with the total length of 1900 meters.
At present, SSP NIKA-TERA is one of the enterprises of the marine economy that own their own railway infrastructure and are capable to fully support the entire production process associated with railway deliveries. Dmytro Firtash’s Group DF has invested over UAH 1.5 billion in the development of the sea port.
