Cherkassy Azot provided UAH 500 thousand in support to city schools

Cherkassy Azot, part of OSTCHEM holding consolidating nitrogen fertilizers producers of Group DF, provided UAH 50 thousand to each of its 10 sponsored schools. This assistance is aimed at repairing and developing infrastructure of these schools, as well as purchasing furniture, computers, office appliances and equipment to help the schools prepare for the beginning of the new academic year.

 

This was announced by Victor Bezzubenko, First Deputy Mayor of Cherkassy. This assistance is provided as part of sponsorship agreements which Azot signed with Cherkassy schools in May 2013.

 

“The sponsorship agreements have been signed for five years. This is only the beginning of our partnership”, noted Vitaly Sklyarov, Chairman of the Board of Cherkassy Azot. “It’s especially pleasing that we do it for children, including children of our employees. It is a joy to see our sponsored schools getting new look”.

 

Azot’s Board took the decision for each of the schools to be given patronage from three workshops of Azot, with one Azot employee appointed to manage all works related to a particular sponsored school.

 

“Our employees are the ones responsible for all help that is being provided to the schools. Some portion of works is performed by Azot’s employees, another portion – by contracting organizations. The problematic issues were identified during meetings of Azot representatives with the schools’ teaching staff and parents of pupils”, says Konstantin Salenko, Social Responsibility Director of Cherkassy Azot.

 

As the result, by 1 September, many schools saw their premises repaired and central entrances reconstructed. The works included improvement of surrounding territories, replacement of wiring and plumbing. In addition to that, two schools received new playgrounds produced by Azot for the total cost of UAH 360 thousand.

 

“For example, we had some section of heat pipeline and heating unit equipment repaired at our school campus. If it were not for Azot, the school would face serious problems during the heating season. We are so pleased that our city has such a socially responsible company as Azot, owned by Dmitry Firtash”, notes Anna Ivanova, Director of Cherkassy secondary school No.12.

 

It is not the first time that Cherkassy Azot provided support to various institutions for children. In 2011 and 2012, more than UAH 80 thousand was spent on purchase of rehab equipment, household appliances and presents for children at the Smila orphanage.

 

Las year, Azot spent almost UAH 24 thousand to buy office appliances and school furniture for various kindergartens in Cherkassy and surrounding towns. The company also helped these kindergartens with repairs and donated various toys. Cherkassy Azot also provides support to various sports institutions of the city. This year, Azot donated a vehicle to the sports school No.2 which will be used to transport its athletes.

 

Since its consolidation into OSTCHEM holding in April 2011, Cherkassy Azot provided UAH 1.307 million in support to various institutions for children. Besides helping schools, the company finances various national and regional academic and cultural competitions.
