10 November 2015 ZTMC increased the production of titanium sponge by 25.9% for Q1-3 of 2015Zaporizhzhya Titanium and Magnesium Combine LLC (part of Group DF titanium business), increased production of titanium sponge by 25.9% for 9 months of 2015 compared to the same period in 2014 (from 4 752,4 to 5 984,6 tons). At the same time, the company reduced the production of commercial titanium slag by 33.4% (from 12 000 to 7 991 tons). The decline in the production of titanium slag in 2015 was pre-planned since in the first half of 2015 the plant conducted modernization of one of the three ore-smelting furnaces, where the slag smelting process takes place. While in the first and second quarter of 2015 ZTMC produced 1 588 and 1 470 tons of slag, then in the third quarter the comparable figure was 4 933 tons of slag. Thus, in terms of slag production volume the plant has reached the level of the previous year.
“The combine increases production of a base product – titanium sponge according to the plan. This year, the company managed not only to produce more finished product, but also to sell more. As a result, net operative income increased by almost a quarter compared to 2014 and amounted to UAH 780 million for three quarters of this year. Thus income before tax amounted to UAH 245.121 million”, the director of ZTMC Volodymyr Sivak said.
The company invested approximately UAH 29.6 million into the modernization and overhauls for three quarters of 2015. In particular, in addition to the repair of ore smelting furnace #2, the overhauls of two electrolysis cells (for the production of magnesium from magnesium chloride) and a decanter centrifuge (provides a processing/dehydration of fall-out in a special industrial wastewater treatment plants according to ecological norms) were conducted. Also, to ensure a stable and reliable electricity supply, the plant repaired the main bearing #3 of the power lines. |
