15 November 2021 Nika-Tera seaport sets a new record: 432 railway cars were handled in a dayNika-Tera seaport, a member of Group DF, handled 432 railway cars in a day. This is by 9% more than the previous record performance in September, when the seaport handled 397 railway cars.
The top manager of the seaport is confident that significant capital investments of the shareholder in the development of own advanced railway facilities facilitate the increase in throughput. As a part of the program intended to increase the seaport’s throughput capacity (has been under implementation for the 4th year), 23 km of rail ways were built and put into operation, the fleet of own locomotives was brought up to 10 engines, a new weighing facility was built. At present, the seaport operates 5 special weighing facilities for unloading freight railway cars. In the future, new stations for unloading railway cars are to be built to optimize logistics operations. The seaport also operates its own locomotive depot to maintain and repair diesel locomotives.
In 10 months 2021, Nika-Tera seaport transshipped more than 6,000,000 t of cargo and handled 371 vessels. In 2020, the sea port handled 409 vessels and transshipped 7,380,000 t of cargoes. Within the cargo mix, the grains, legumes and oilseeds accounted for 5,500,000 t or 75% of the total volume, bulk cargoes – 1,270,000 t (18%), liquid bulk cargoes – 323,000 t (4%), mineral fertilizers – 215,000 t or (3%). |
