Reconstruction of the urea production workshop at PJSC “Azot” (Cherkasy) allowed to increase the production capacity of the enterprise

PJSC “Azot” (Cherkasy), a member of Group DF nitrogen line of business, completed the largest in the last 10 years modernization of M-6 urea production workshop in terms of the scale. Capital investments in this project equaled UAH165 million.

 

Following the modernization, the maximum capacity of the production workshop has increased from 1,200 t to 1,300 t of urea per day.

“This was the largest capital project for the plant in the last ten years. It took us 1.5 months to implement it. A large range of measures was carried out with the view to increase the workshop capacities and to achieve energy savings. We managed to ensure efficient use of steam, electricity and to reduce a number of consumption factors. As a result, the daily production of urea increased by 8% and reached 1,300 t. This is a good result. In terms of some performance indicators, the enterprise meets the best international standards,” commented Vitaly Sklyarov, Chairman of the Board, PJSC “Azot” (Cherkasy).

Carrying out a number of planned activities in M-6 urea (carbamide) production workshop made it possible to improve production safety, efficiency of chemical processes, reliability and stability of most production processes and positively affected the technical and economic indicators of the production workshop as a whole.

 

Due to the partial reconstruction, which was carried out in the M-6 production workshop in 2015 and the modernization in 2020, we reached the maximum daily urea production of 1,200 t whereas the design capacity of the production workshop stands at 1,000 t. We have further increased this figure by another 100 t per day.

 

M-6 general overhaul was carried out by all services of the urea (carbamide) production workshop, other services of the company and contractors, i.e. ArchiBud Investment Group LLC and “Professional”, specializing in repairs and replacement of large technological equipment designed for chemical production).

 

In 2020, UAH 324.1 million was invested in PJSC “Azot” (Cherkasy).

 

At present, the company includes: А-3 ammonium production plant (2 units, designed capacity – 1,200 t/day) and A-5 ammonium production plant (designed capacity – 1,700 t/day); M-2 urea (carbamide) production plant (designed capacity – 1,000 t/day) and M-6 urea (carbamide) production plant (designed capacity 1,000 t/day); M-5 nitric acid production plant (9 units, designed capacity – 3,240 t/day); M-9 ammonium nitrate production plant (2 prilling towers, designed capacity – 2,970 t/day), UAN production plant (designed capacity – 3,000 t/day), etc.

 

PJSC “Azot” (Cherkasy) is the largest Ukrainian producer of mineral fertilizers in Ukraine. In 2020, the company produced 1,748,000 t of nitrogen fertilizers. In Q1 2021, the company produced 511,700 t of nitrogen fertilizers.
