PJSC “Azot” (Cherkasy), a member of Group DF nitrogen line of business, has reached the level of 100% capacity utilization.
Completion of major repairs at М-2 urea and A-5 ammonium production plants allowed to fully utilize the production capacities of PJSC “Azot” (Cherkasy).
In early October, the company was working at 50-60% of its capacity as the overhaul program was under way.
“We have completed a large-scale project, a major overhaul with elements of modernization of technological equipment of the M-2 urea production plant. It took us 1.5 months to complete this project. It was intended to increase the capacity of the production plant and to achieve energy savings. At the moment, the production plant has successfully passed start-up operations and is about to reach scheduled loads. When the production process begins we will see by how much we managed to increase the production of urea and reduce the costs following a number of innovations that have been introduced,” said Vitalii Sklyarov, Chairman of the Board, PJSC “Azot” (Cherkasy).
The most important elements of overhaul works that are expected to have an economic effect, included the replacement of the condenser of the E-202 synthesis unit with a newer and more advanced one and the modernization of the K-104 turbocharger.
“This June, a similar modernization was carried out in the M-6 urea production plant. As a result, daily urea production increased by more than 8% (up to 1,350 tons). This is a good result. In addition, we managed to ensure the efficient use of steam, electricity and reduce consumption rates,” stressed Sklyarov.
In November, the overhaul of the A-5 ammonium production plant was also completed. It was a reconstructive maintenance with diagnostics and replacement of individual parts and pieces of equipment in need for maintenance. This will allow the production plant to operate continuously at the planned production capacity, producing up to 1,580 t of ammonia per day in view of the installed capacity of 1,700 t.
Capital repairs will allow the production plant to operate efficiently and save energy resources. The entire set of measures intended to upgrade and replace the equipment will increase the output.
In 2020, PJSC “Azot” (Cherkasy) received a total of UAH324.1 million in capital investments.
The company has the following ammonium production plants: А-3 ammonium production plant (2 units, designed capacity – 1,200 t/day) and A-5 ammonium production plant (designed capacity – 1,700 t/day); M-2 urea production plant (designed capacity – 1,000 t/day) and M-6 urea production plant (designed capacity 1,000 t/day); M-5 nitric acid production plant (9 units, designed capacity – 3,240 t/day); M-9 ammonium nitrate production plant (designed capacity – 2,970 t/day), UAN production plant (designed capacity – 3,000 t/day), etc.
