Nika-Tera Sea Specialized Port (part of Group DF port business) has entered the TOP-3 rating among all grain terminals in Ukraine based on the rating of stevedoring companies, compiled by the Ports of Ukraine edition and BlackSeaTrans information and analysis center. In particular, the terminal took the 2nd place in the category “Absolute growth of grain cargoes” based on the company’s performance in 2016-2017 marketing year.
The announcement of the rating results and the awarding of the leaders of the Ukrainian port industry took place during the III International Conference named “Grain Terminals: New Projects, Equipment and Technologies”, which was held on November 23, 2017 in Odessa.
Commenting on the award, Alim Agakishyev, the Head of the Nika-Tera Sea terminal, said that the recognition of Nika-Tera as one of the leaders in grain transshipment was not an accident, but a result of the consistent investment strategy of the international group of companies Group DF.
“After the new owner came to Nika-Tera, about 1.5 billion hryvnias were invested in the development of the port. Thanks to this, today Nika-Tera has one of the largest in the Mykolayiv region grain-hardening capacities, which allow to store up to 330 thousand tons of grain at a time. Also this year, we began to conduct parallel loading of grain vessels of the Panamax and Handy type by several loaders simultaneously on several berths, Alim Agakishyev said. The implementation of these investment projects finally allowed us to achieve a significant increase in the efficiency of the terminal and to increase grain transshipment volumes by almost 30%.”
Transshipment of grain cargoes of Nika-Tera in 2016-2017 marketing year relative to the same period (2015-16 MY) increased from 2.24 million tons to 2.87 million tons, making a growth of 28.3%.
The port also continues to implement international business standards, as a result of which market strategy has been revised significantly over the past year.
“Now, besides transshipment and storage of goods, we can offer our customers an expanded package of services in the type of what the best world hubs offer. It includes convenient unloading from rail and road transport, laboratory tests that meet world standards in quality, storage, cleaning and drying of grain crops,” Alim Agakishyev added.
To date, the marine terminal continues to improve the grain terminal, introducing modern technologies that improve the working conditions of employees, adhere to the highest standards in environmental protection and reduce cargo losses.
