In October 2021, PJSC “Azot” (Cherkasy), a member of Group DF nitrogen line of business, supplied 560 t of medical oxygen to hospitals. The news was announced by Vitaliy Sklyarov, Chairman of the Board, PJSC “Azot” (Cherkasy) during the meeting at the Union of Chemists of Ukraine.
“In October, we produced and supplied 560 t of medical oxygen. Since the beginning of November, health care institutions in Cherkasy region and neighboring regions have already booked more than 220 t of medical oxygen. We have the capacity to supply about 600 t of medical oxygen per month until coronovirus incidence rate stabilizes. By the decision of the shareholder, all medical oxygen is supplied to the hospitals free of charge», – said Vitaliy Sklyarov, Chairman of the Board, PJSC “Azot”.
Nowadays, according to various estimates, a ton of oxygen sustains the lives of about 100 patients. Consequently, PJSC “Azot” (Cherkasy) produces medical oxygen that help sustain the lives of 2,000 COVID-19 patients daily.
“Patients infected with Delta strain consume 5-6 times as much medical oxygen as patients hospitalized during the previous waves of pandemic”, – said Viktor Lyashko, the Minister of Health.
Vitaliy Sklyarov stressed that the company supplies medical oxygen to the hospitals in Cherkasy and Cherkasy region in the first place. Geography of oxygen supplies expands to other regions of Ukraine, in particular, the hospitals of Cherkasy, Kyiv, Volyn and Zhytomyr regions.
“We have a clear understanding of our social mission: when supplying medical oxygen to the hospitals, we save lives. That is why we work 24/7 to supply medical oxygen. The Ministry of Health of Ukraine coordinates the entire process of oxygen distribution among the hospitals in Ukraine. During the first two days of November, the company supplied medical oxygen to the Cherkasy infectious disease hospital and infectious disease departments of the Third Municipal Emergency Hospital. Recently, we were requested to supply liquid oxygen to Zhytomyr, Sumy and Kyiv regions. We will do our best to meet their requests. However, Cherkasy region has been at the top of our priorities”, – said Vitaliy Sklyarov.
Since April 2020, PJSC “Azot” (Cherkasy) has allocated UAH1.2 million as an assistance to Cherkasy to overcome the pandemic, becoming one of the key participants in the specially created charity fund “Cherkasy against COVID-19”. In particular, the fund financed the procurement of BLIZAR artificial lung ventilator and protective gear for Cherkasy infectious disease hospital. In early July, PJSC “Azot” (Cherkasy) completed the assembly and installation of a liquid oxygen gasifier at the Third Municipal Hospital that was required to restore the operations of the centralized oxygen supply system.
Since the beginning of the pandemic in April 2020, PJSC “Azot” (Cherkasy) has supplied a total of 650 t of medical oxygen to health care institutions in Cherkasy and neighboring regions free of charge.
PJSC “Azot” (Cherkasy) supplied medical oxygen to 8 health care institutions in Cherkasy region: Cherkasy Regional Hospital, Center for Emergency Medical Care and Disaster Medicine of Cherkasy Regional Council, Cherkasy Municipal Maternity Hospital, the Third Municipal Emergency Hospital, Drabovskaya Multidisciplinary Hospital, Zolotonosha Regional Multidisciplinary Hospital, Horodyshche Medical Association.
Medical oxygen was also supplied to health care institutions in Vinnytsya and Sumy regions including health care institutions of Vinnytsya Regional State Administration, Myronovka Central Regional Hospital and Department of Health of Sumy City Council.
