In October 2021, Nika-Terra seaport, a member of Group DF, transshipped 867,000 t of cargo, an increase by 14% yoy.
The cargo mix was as follows:
- cereals, legumes, oilseeds and products of their processing – 664,000 t (77% of the total throughput);
- bulk cargo (ground storage) – 148,000 t (17%);
- liquid bulk cargo – 35,000 t (4%);
- fertilizers – 20,000 t (2%).
“In October we put in a strong performance. For the first time, together with Nika Trans Logistics, we have worked out a new logistic chain, i.e. we have carried out the transshipment of liquid UAN from a coastal tanker to a sea tanker. Fertilizers produced at PJSC “Azot” (Cherkasy) were delivered to our seaport along the Dnipro river and successfully shipped for export. We are testing new technological and logistics solutions. We are always in quest of solutions that would allow our clients to reduce the transportation costs,” commented Alim Agakishiev, CEO, Nika-Tera seaport.
According to him, in 10 months of 2021, the seaport handled 6 million tons of cargo and handled 371 vessels, witnessing a gradual throughput recovery to the level of 2019.
Earlier it was reported that Dmytro Firtash’s Group DF invested more than UAH1.5 billion to develop the seaport. The group has been building a new generation seaport focusing on the implementation of advanced technological solutions that comply with international standards.
The seaport continues to implement a program designed to increase the throughput capacity. As a part of this program, a new weighing facility was built, the number of berths was increased to 8 with the total length of 1900 m; the fleet of locomotives was brought up to 10 engines, the length of own railways has been increased up to 23 km, the necessary equipment for cargo transshipment was purchased.
In 2020, the seaport handled 409 vessels and transshipped 7,380,000 t of cargoes. Within the cargo mix, the grains, legumes and oilseeds accounted for 5,550,000 t or 75% of the total throughput, bulk cargoes – 1,270,000 t (18%), liquid bulk cargoes – 323,000 t (4%), mineral fertilizers – 215,000 t or (3%).
