By the decision of the shareholder, all oxygen produced by Ostchem enterprises is supplied to hospitals in 12 regions of Ukraine free of charge. In coordination with the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, Heads of the Regional State Administrations and the city mayors, medical oxygen is shipped in cylinders or in special tanks. Aside from supplying the medical oxygen, the enterprises provide the local hospitals with additional assistance needed at the times of an epidemic. First of all, we are talking about the acquisition of various equipment for the supply of oxygen and the construction of oxygen stations.
“At the moment, three enterprises of Group DF’s nitrogen business, i.e. PJSC “Azot” (Cherkasy), PrJSC “Severodonetsk Azot Association”, PJSC “Rivneazot”, remain the largest suppliers of medical oxygen in the country. Since the beginning of the year, these enterprises have shipped 1.171 million m3 of medical oxygen to health care institutions. In November, there was a significant increase in the consumption of medical oxygen by hospitals. Thanks to the extra efforts of our employees, in November the enterprises managed to increase shipments of medical oxygen by 65.5%, i.e. from 10,000 to 15,000 cubic meters per day and delivered on 100% of requests,” – noted Oleg Arestarkhov, Head of Corporate Communications Department, RGC.
According to him, the emergence of a new Omicron strain of the coronavirus and its spread on the territory of Ukraine is a new challenge; the enterprises and the health care institutions are now getting ready to withstand it. “The hospitals’ demand for medical oxygen may grow, so the company is increasing the production in advance in accordance with the requests received from the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. Today, businesses help cover the growing demand for medical oxygen as much as possible,” said Arestarkhov.
In 2021, aside from assistance with medical oxygen supplies, Group DF also provided assistance to Ukrainian medical institutions to the amount of more than UAH 56 million. Most of the assistance was intended to help doctors combat COVID-19.
