On 6 August 2013, an emergency situation appeared at Concern Stirol, JSC. In course of planned overhaul works at the No1 Plant, an accidental ammonia gas emission took place at 14:00. According to preliminary reports, this happened as the result of unsealing of the liquid ammonia pipeline.
In course of 30 minutes, the emergency and rescue service of Concern Stirol liquidated this breakage which caused the emission. As the result of this emergency, five people are deceased and twenty hospitalized. A specially established commission started work on identifying the causes of this emission. There is no danger to the local population.
